National Wildland Fire Weather: A Summary of User Needs and Issues (FCM-R33-2007)
In July 2007, the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Meteorology (OFCM) released the report, National Wildland Fire Weather: A Summary of User Needs and Issues (FCM-R33-2007). This report summarizes results from the wildland fire weather needs assessment conducted during 2006–2007 by the Joint Action Group (JAG) for National Wildland Fire Weather Needs Assessment (JAG/NWFWNA). To conduct the needs assessment, the JAG/NWFWNA gathered input from 745 Federal, state, tribal, and local fire weather users covering the full range of stakeholders in the national wildland fire weather community.
In 2010, the OFCM staff, with substantial aid from members of the original JAG/NWFWNA and others in the wildland fire management community, has assembled a snapshot of then-current and developing capabilities relevant to the Functional Areas discussed in the 2007 report, and identified user needs.
