Interagency Council for Advancing Meteorological Services

The ICAMS Working Group on Social Equity is hosting a virtual workshop across government sectors on May 17, 2022, from 12:00- 4:00pm ET to discuss and address meteorological services gaps in our most vulnerable communities.

This virtual workshop will enable agencies to learn from each other about what mechanisms are being utilized to gather information related to social issues within underserved communities.

Speakers from USDA, NOAA, OSTP, and several other agencies will give talks on a variety of topics, including:

• Meteorological service gaps and challenges
• Using data to inform decision-making and improve resources to vulnerable communities
• Best practices on reaching underserved populations
• Demo presentations on agency tools to address social equity
• Multi-agency collaboration on advancing social equity
• Federal government equity policy
• Executive Order 13985 and strategies driving equity
